Male in his 90s rescued from property

Elm Tree Avenue, Westfield

A male in his 90s was rescued following a fire in a two-storey building consisting of a shop and residential property.

Crews from Radstock, Bath and Paulton were called to the incident and firefighters in breathing apparatus used a high-pressure hose reel and jet to extinguish the blaze in the ground floor shop.

They then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the building.

The male casualty was assessed at the scene but was not suffering smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
