Fire tackled at community farm

Saltmarsh Drive, Lawrence Weston, Bristol

Firefighters have tackled a fire which caused extensive damage at a community farm.

Three fire engines from Southmead and Avonmouth fire stations were called to the fire which involved an outbuilding on the site used as offices, storage and toilets. The wooden structure measured approximately 25 metres by 10 metres and was well alight when crews arrived.

Firefighters used water jets and high pressure hose reels to bring the fire under control, however extensive damage was caused. Animals at the farm were being kept in a barn around 20 metres away and were unaffected by the fire.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
