Lady loses life in Sea Mills house fire

Fire crews have attended a serious fire at a house in Bristol in which a lady has lost her life.

Four crews from Bedminster, Southmead and Avonmouth were called to the incident at the two storey property. Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the house and rescued the 91-year-old lady in a serious condition. Despite the efforts of firefighters and the ambulance service she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters used a high pressure hose reel and a jet to extinguish the fire which caused extensive damage to the ground floor of the house.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has found it started accidentally.
