Man loses life in Fishponds house fire

Fishponds Road, Bristol

Multiple crews were called to a fire involving a terraced property in Fishponds, where the ground floor is used as a restaurant and shop and the first floor residential flats.

The first floor and roof space of two flats were significantly affected by fire and a number of other properties were affected by smoke and water damage.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus rescued two people from a flat. One turntable ladder, three jets and two high pressure hose reels were used to extinguish the fire.

Both casualties were cared for by paramedics but sadly, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. One lady was treated for burns at the scene and conveyed to hospital.

The fire is believed to have started accidently in the first floor bedroom.
