Flat fire closes City Centre road

Old Market Street, Bristol

Firefighters were called to first floor flat fire following a call from the police.

Two crews from Bedminster and Temple fire stations attended the incident and the road was closed to the public.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels and two jets to extinguish the fire.

They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

Six people were evacuated from the building but nobody was hurt.

The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.
