Multiple crews called to residential explosion

Whitchurch Lane, Hartcliffe

Crews from Bedminster, Temple, Hicks Gate and Patchway fire stations were called to an explosion in the ground floor of a residential flat. 

On arrival, crews found a fire within a building with significant structural damage.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.

More firefighters administered first aid to a number of persons at the scene.

The Urban Search and Rescue team, utilising search dog Sally, checked for any potentially trapped casualties. 

Fire Crews assisted the police ambulance and local authority to make the scene safe and assess the integrity of the building.

Three casualties were conveyed to hospital by ambulance. 

The cause is currently unknown.
