Unattended cooking causes fire

Croydon House, Croydon Street, Easton, Bristol:

Cooking left unattended sparked a fire in a flat on the 10th floor of a 16 storey block of flats.

When crews arrived on the scene they found the fire in the kitchen of the flat. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dealt with the small fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.

It appears the fire started accidentally after the occupant left cooking on the stove and went out.

Fortunately no one was hurt.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people never to leave cooking unattended as it can lead to fire breaking out.
