Females rescued from RTC

St Philips Causeway at the junction with Bath Road, Brislington, Bristol

Two women have been rescued after a road traffic collision involving two cars.

The females, who were both in their 40s, were trapped in a Ford Puma, when firefighters arrived, but the driver of a BMW was unharmed.

As the two women were suffering from suspected back and neck injuries, crews worked quickly to stabilise the vehicle. Using hydraulic cutting equipment firefighters removed the roof. Working alongside paramedics the passenger was assisted onto a ked stretcher and the driver was assisted on to a spinal board.

Both women were taken to hospital by ambulance but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
