How we make our decisions

We work to identify risk in the community and then determine how we can best improve our performance to minimise this risk.

Avon Fire Authority (AFA)

The Avon Fire Authority and its committees meet regularly to make decisions on all non-operational matters.

Details of various AFA meetings, committees, schedules, minutes/papers, polices and documents are available from the above link on this website.

Members of the public can attend the Avon Fire Authority (AFA) meetings to observe the decision making process. There is also an opportunity for members of the public to address Fire Authority members if you may like to present a petition, make a statement or ask a question to the Chair. Your presentation must be under five minutes and details of the content should be made available to the Clerk of AFA (via the Committee Services Assistant, see details below), providing two clear working days’ notice of the meeting.

We also consult with the public about major decisions affecting the Service.  Any public consultations will be posted on our news pages of our website. Any consultation outcomes will be discussed at AFA meetings, which are noted within the minutes.
