Crews tackle house in Pill

Newsome Avenue, Pill

Firefighters dealt with a fire in a bungalow which spread into the roof of the property.

When crews arrived on the scene they found the property well alight.

A man, who had been inside, was already out and suffering from burns to his hands and the effects of breathing in smoke. He was treated at the scene by firefighters and ambulance crews and taken to hospital.

Six firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire from inside using two 45mm jets and a high pressure hose reel. The Turntable Ladder was used to get water on to the fire from above the property.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.

The bungalow was badly damaged.
