Clevedon Fire Station welcomes the community for open day

Come along and find out more about Clevedon Fire Station.

That’s the message from firefighters as they hold a station open day on Saturday 5 September.

Members of the public will be able to see some of the vehicles and equipment firefighters use and meet their local firefighters. They will also be able to find out how to join as a part-time firefighter.

The event takes place from 11am until 4pm at the fire station in Old Street, Clevedon.

Group Manager for North Somerset, Malcolm Hawthorn, said: “This is a great opportunity for local people to come along and find out more about our work.

“Part of the role of the fire and rescue service is to provide community safety advice on fire prevention. We would urge people to come along and talk to us about our free Home Fire Safety Visits where firefighters visit homes to give fire safety advice and fit smoke alarms for free, if required.

“We are also looking to recruit more on-call firefighters in the Clevedon area and would love to hear from anyone who might be interested. You need to be 18 years of age, fit enough to pass physical selection tests and a medical examination and live or work within five minutes of the station.
