Development rate Hay 8 (£24,174-£26,822)

We have a vacancy working within a small team providing comprehensive health and safety advice and support to all staff within Avon Fire & Rescue Service. This is an interesting role with the opportunity to develop and make a significant contribution to the work of the Fire Service.
The successful applicant will implement our programme of continual improvement by identifying and minimising risks, developing safe working practices, disseminating information, and preparing and delivering health and safety training programmes and initiatives. This is a critical role and you will be responsible for improving the awareness of health, safety and welfare issues, monitoring and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and legislation. You will interact with staff and managers at all levels so must be able to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively and appropriately.
To be considered as a candidate you must be familiar with health and safety law, its interpretation and application within the workplace and have practical experience of undertaking investigations, carrying out risk assessments and completing workplace inspections. If you possess a recognised health and safety qualification at NVQ 5, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent you will be appointed on the qualified grade (as detailed above). We will also consider applicants with at least two years practical experience and who possess the minimum qualification of a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety / NVQ level 3 in Health and Safety / NCRQ Certificate in Applied Health and Safety or equivalent and who will work towards the fully qualified level. A qualification in ergonomic assessment is desirable.

The Service operates a flexitime scheme.
