Crews tackle fire in pub smoking shelter

St James Street, Mangotsfield

A fire in a smoking shelter at the rear of a public house was extinguished by firefighters.

When crews arrived they found the structure well alight, with the fire spreading to the drain pipe and guttering of the house next door. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel and a 45mm jet to put the fire out.

It’s thought the fire started accidentally after an electrical fault.
