Crews called to Winterbourne kitchen fire

Cairn Gardens, Winterbourne Down

Two crews from Kingswood Fire Station were called after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a Winterbourne home.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to tackle the fire which involved the hob and cooker hood. It’s thought the fire started accidentally as food was being cooked. The fire was contained to the kitchen.

A lady in her 40s who was in the house when the fire broke out left the property before crews arrived. It’s thought she was encouraged from her home by neighbours and one man in his 50s was treated at the scene for the effects of smoke inhalation.
