Avon Fire Authority Audit of accounts 2011/12, notice of public rights

  1. Notice is given that any person interested may pursuant to section 15 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 inspect the accounts of the Avon Fire Authority for 2011/12 and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them and make copies of all or any part of the accounts and those other documents at the following times and place:

    For a period of 20 working days commencing on Tuesday 17 July 2012 between 9.00 am and 4.30 pm, at the Finance Department, Bristol City Council, Council House, College Green, Bristol BS1 5TR.

  2. The Authority’s Auditor is Peter Barber, Appointed Auditor, Audit Commission, 5th Floor, Block 3, Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2TG.
  3. At the request of a local government elector for any area to which the accounts relate, the Auditor shall give the elector, or any representative of the elector, an opportunity to question the Auditor about the accounts and to attend before the Auditor and make objections pursuant to Section 16 of the Audit Commission Act 1998.

  4. No such objection may be made unless the Auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and of the grounds on which it is to be made.  A copy of any such notice must also be sent at the same time to The Clerk, Avon Fire Authority at Fire Service Headquarters, Temple Back, Bristol BS1 6EU.

  5. The Auditor has appointed Wednesday 15 August 2012, as the date on or after which local government electors may exercise their rights referred to in paragraph 3 of this Notice, at Avon Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters, Temple Back, Bristol BS1 6EU.
