Man rescued from River Avon

incidentA man was rescued from the River Avon in Bath by police officers and firefighters.

Crews were called to the incident after reports of a man in the water.

On arrival they found two police officers in the water with the man, who was thought to be in his 50s. They were keeping him afloat until further assistance arrived.

The Animal and Water Rescue Unit from Bath Fire Station attended and four firefighters trained in swift water rescue techniques entered the water. Using a stretcher, the three people in the water were assisted to safety.

They were left in the hands of the ambulance service.
