Terrier rescued by fire crews

Fire kitFirefighters rescued a dog from the bank of the River Avon in Bath.

When crews arrived on the scene they found a woman in her 70s who had taken her dog for a walk along the river.

Tigger the Terrier had gone for a swim but had got out of the water on a very steep part of the river bank and was unable to get to safety.

Three firefighters trained in swift water rescue techniques and wearing dry suits waded into the water. Using an inflatable raft they reached the animal and took him to safety where he was reunited with his owner.

Tigger appeared to be unharmed.
