Newton Road, Twerton, Bath
A tealight left burning close to clothing on the back of a bedroom door started a fire in the Twerton area of Bath.
When crews arrived the occupants of the property were already out and unharmed but the fire was spreading to the roof of the house.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the house and found a fire in a bedroom which they dealt with using two high pressure hose reels and two 45mm jets. The smoke was cleared using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service also attended the incident to assist the occupants.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people to take care when using candles and tealights. Never leave them burning unattended, never place them close to clothing or furnishings and always put them out after use. For more fire safety advice click here
