St Augustines Church, Whitchurch Lane, Whitchurch
Firefighters have dealt with a fire that broke out inside a derelict church.
Crews were called after members of the public saw smoke coming from the empty building. A total of three fire engines, one from Brislington and two from Bedminster fire stations, attended the incident. Once on scene four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used a jet and high pressure hose reel to deal with the blaze.
The fire involved some rubbish and did not cause damage to the structure of the building. The blaze caused heavy smoke logging inside the empty church which was cleared using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
