Crews from Temple and Bedminster fire stations were called to a kitchen fire on the ground floor of a block of flats.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used one high-pressure hose reel and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire which was caused by a chip pan.
They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the building.
The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental and firefighters remained on scene to provide safety advice to neighbouring properties.
