Crews called to lorry fire on motorway

M5 Southbound, JCT 17-18

Crews from Avonmouth and Southmead fire stations were called to a fire affecting the cab of a lorry on the M5 Southbound.

On arrival, two firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels and 25 litres of foam to extinguish the fire.

They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

The cause is thought be accidental.

Highways England were also in attendance and lanes one and two were closed.
