Four taken to hospital following cigarette fire

Stackpool Road, Southville

Crews from Temple and Bedminster fire station, along with a turntable ladder, were called to reports of a fire in a three floor building.

On arrival, four firefighters in breathing apparatus used one high pressure hose reel and one 45mm jet to extinguish the fire.

Gas and electrics were also isolated at the property.

One person was rescued by the fire service, two were rescued prior to crew’s arrival, and four people were evacuated.

Four casualties were conveyed to hospital by ambulance crews, while three more were discharged at the scene.

The cause is thought to be accidental and was caused by a cigarette.
