Crews called to house fire

Pearl Street, Bedminster


Crews from Hicks Gate, Southmead, Kingswood, Avonmouth, Temple, Bedminster, Nailsea and Portishead responded to reports of a fire within a terraced property at 08:23.


Upon arrival, crews found a three-bedroom property well alight. The fire had originated on the first floor of the two-storey house, and was affecting the roof. The roof at the rear of the property had collapsed. One male occupant had evacuated the property.


With six breathing apparatus in use, firefighters tackled the blaze with two high pressure hose reels, two 45mm jets, a triple extension and turntable ladder to strategically extinguish the fire.


Both police, HART, ambulance colleagues also attended the scene, with police closing Chessel Street and Pearl Street for emergency vehicle access.


Crews have been detained at the scene for some time damping down the area, and the house was inspected by a fire investigation officer.


The cause of the fire was determined to have been accidental ignition.
