Victoria Street, Staple Hill
A man in his 40s had a lucky escape after a fire at his flat.
He had fallen asleep while cooking and left a pan on the hob, which caught fire.
When firefighters arrived they found smoke coming from the ground floor property.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and tackled the fire using one high pressure hose reel. A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear the smoke.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people never to leave cooking unattended as it could catch fire.
Fortunately in this case no one was hurt and the kitchen was not badly damaged by the fire.
