Man injured in caravan blaze

Station Road, Shirehampton

A man suffered burns to his hands after a fire broke out in his caravan.

Three fire engines from Avonmouth and Southmead fire stations were called after numerous 999 calls were received to a fire within a boat yard.

On arrival firefighters found two caravans involved in the blaze which is thought to have started after a leaking LPG cylinder caught fire. Crews used two high pressure hose reels and foam to deal with the blaze and cool a number of cylinders which were venting off in the fire.

The incident caused extensive damage to both caravans as well as damage to a motorhome parked nearby. The male resident of the caravans, thought to be aged in his 50s, suffered burns to his hands and was treated on the scene by fire crews who administered burns gel. He was later treated by paramedics, but did not go to hospital.
