Fishpool Hill, Brentry, Bristol
A woman suffered burns to her hands after a candle set light to nearby curtains at her home.
The 31-year-old was resting in an upstairs bedroom with her six week old baby. A tealight candle had been placed too close to the curtain and the draft from the window caused the flame to ignite the curtain.
The woman quickly pulled the curtain down and threw it out of the window, but suffered burns to her hands.
Firefighters assisted the woman with first aid and she was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
No one else was hurt and the house suffered minor fire damage.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people to take care when using candles. Always make sure they are fully extinguished after use and never place them near to furnishings or curtains as they can catch fire.
