Firefighters have dealt with a severe fire in the roof space of a two storey building.
When crews arrived on the scene they were confronted with a large fire which had spread to two neighbouring properties.
At the height of the blaze six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using two 45mm jets and two high pressure hose reels.
The hydraulic platform from Speedwell Fire Station was used to inspect the roof and firefighters were on the scene damping down and cutting away the roof to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Fortunately no one was hurt during the incident but a number of residents of nearby homes had to be evacuated.
An investigation into the cause of the fire found it started accidentally and the incident was left in the hands of police.
