Marlborough Street, Bristol city centre

Crews from Temple, Southmead, Bedminster, Hicks Gate, Kingswood and Portishead were called at 00:02 to reports of a fire near a residential building on Marlborough Street in Bristol city centre.

On arrival, firefighters around a large amount of rubbish on fire which was affecting the neighbouring building. Crews used three high pressure hose reels and one 45mm covering jet to extinguish the flames. A thermal image camera and gas monitors were used to check whether the fire had spread.

One firefighter wore breathing apparatus for safety.

The building was searched by crews and a full evacuation took place. There were fortunately no casualties.

The cause of the fire is thought to have been deliberate ignition.
