Firefighters set to take on epic charity ladder climb at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol

Firefighters from Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) are attempting to climb the distance of Mount Everest to raise money for two charities close to their heart.

Hosted at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol on Saturday, 26 October, firefighters, dressed in full uniform, will be climbing the distance it takes to reach the top of Mount Everest and back via a fire engine ladder, from 10am to 4pm. The aim is to raise money for The Children’s Hospice South West and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Chrissie Becker, firefighter at Clevedon Fire Station, who has organised this charity event, said: “We’re looking forward to coming along to The Mall, Cribbs Causeway to raise as much money as possible for these two charities doing such fantastic work.

“Getting up and down those ladders – especially with the distance we’re planning to make – is no mean feat and we hope to see as many people from our communities as possible cheering us own and showing their support.”

As well as raising money for charity, AF&RS staff will be on hand to give advice and answer any questions on fire safety and careers in the fire and rescue service.

All money raised will be divided during this charity event will be split equally between the Children’s Hospice South West and The Fire Fighters Charity.
