The Lynch, Winscombe
A small fire which broke out in the loft of a property in Winscombe went undetected for a number of hours until a water leak led to the alarm being raised.
It appears the fire started after a poorly-ventilated heating vent warmed and caught light to nearby flammable materials. A water pipe in the loft sprang a leak as a result and it was then that the female resident was alerted to a problem in her loft.
While two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the loft with a high pressure hose reel, fellow crew members set to work cutting away and damping down sections of the roof.
