Workman rescued from roof

High Street, Portishead

Firefighters were called in to rescue a male casualty who had been injured on the roof of a commercial premise in Portishead.

A fire engine from Portishead and an aerial appliance from Patchway attended the incident to assist paramedics. The workman had suffered injuries to his leg in a fall, but due to the conditions and his position it was not possible to recover him without the use of an aerial appliance.

Working alongside ambulance crews, firefighters transferred the man onto a stretcher before it was secured to the aerial platform. He was then brought safely to ground level and moved to an ambulance.
