Honeysuckle Place, Worle, Weston-super-Mare
Firefighters have been called to tackle a kitchen fire after the occupant of the house left the hob on and went out.
When crews arrived on the scene they found smoke coming from the ground floor of the house.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one high pressure hose reel and two Co2 extinguishers.
It appears the fire started accidentally after the occupant, a man in his 40s, had been cooking. He had turned off the deep fat fryer he was using and then left it on the hob. However, the hob was left on and he went out for a short time. When he returned he found the fire and called 999.
The kitchen was badly damaged by fire and there was smoke damage to the rest of the property. Fortunately no one was hurt.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people to take care when cooking and to ensure all appliances are switched off after use.
