Electrical fault sparks fire in Worle

Firefighters have dealt with a fire in the utility room of a house.

When crews arrived there was no one at home so they were forced to gain access.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one high pressure hose reel and a 45mm jet. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke, which had spread throughout the property as all the internal doors were open.

It’s thought the fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault in an extension cable.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people to close all internal doors when going to bed or going out as this will prevent a fire from spreading to the rest of the property.
