Woman rescued from car

Lower Church Road, Weston-super-Mare

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue a woman from her car following a collision.

Two crews from Weston-super-Mare Fire Station were called to the incident involving a Citroen Saxo car and a van. The two occupants of the van were treated at the scene by paramedics after getting out of their vehicle.

The driver of the car was also able to get out of her vehicle, however her passenger was complaining of neck and back pain as a result of the collision. Working alongside paramedics firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle. The woman, who was aged in her 20s, was then moved onto a spinal board before being rescued from the car and taken to hospital.

The road was closed while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
