Maltlands, Locking Castle, Weston-super-Mare
A 91-year-old man was taken to hospital after a fire in the ground floor kitchen of his home.
Some cooking had been left on a gas hob in the kitchen, and the subsequent fire soon spread to the living room.
Some of the first floor rooms were also affected by the blaze.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire, using two high pressure hose reels and a jet.
A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the property.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The incident again highlights the importance of never leaving cooking unattended.
