An exciting opportunity is available to join Avon Fire & Rescue Service as an Operational Risk Management Advisor.
This is a key role providing academic and professional advice within our Risk Intelligence Unit and supporting Station Managers to produce, manage, implement and co-ordinate standard operational guidance documents in accordance with national guidelines.
You will work with the Risk Intelligence team to conduct research, identify and analyse potential emerging threats to Avon Fire & Rescue Service and help ensure appropriate emergency planning and business continuity procedures are in place to address emerging issues. You will be required to produce reports, supported by appropriate research and data to ensure all levels of management receive appropriate briefings on risk management issues.
There is a requirement to work at local, regional and national level with other Fire and Rescue Services, Local Resilience Forums, partner agencies, universities and Avon Fire & Rescue Service departments. The successful candidate will represent AF&RS views nationally in consultation documents, reflecting the values and standards of the organisation.
Applicants must have a qualification or proven experience in emergency planning, business continuity or an associated area along with a sound understanding and knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. Experience of project management, co-ordination and effective people management skills are also required.
