Fire damages roof of Thornbury house

Lavender Close, Thornbury

A fire has caused damage to the roof and first floor of a house in Thornbury.

Four fire engines from Thornbury, Kingswood and Patchway were sent to the incident where they found smoke coming from the roof of the detached house. Smoke and flames were also visible from the first floor.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus worked to tackle the fire using jets and hose reels. When the blaze was brought under control a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke logging from the house.

The fire caused damage to the roof and first floor. Water and smoke damage was also caused throughout the house.

Two adults and a teenage girl were in the house at the time of the fire. Fortunately all three managed to escape unhurt after discovering the fire.

It’s thought the fire started accidentally as a result of an electrical fault in the loft.
