Firefighters free driver from RTC

Strode Common, Alveston, Thornbury

A man has been cut free from his car following an RTC involving three vehicles.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found a woman in her 60s, who had been in a Honda Jazz, already out of the vehicle and unhurt. A man who had been driving a Peugeot 406 was taken to hospital.

The male driver of a BMW, thought to be in his 20s, was trapped and suffering from leg injuries.

Firefighters quickly stabilised the vehicle and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the BMW.

Working alongside paramedics the man was assisted on to a spinal board and taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
