Come and meet your local firefighters
People in Yate and the surrounding area are being invited to come and find out what goes on at their local fire station.
Yate Fire Station, on Station Road, is holding an open day on Saturday 20 July from 10am to 3pm.
Those attending will be able to see fire engines and equipment up close. Firefighters from the station will also be on hand to talk about their work and answer questions about fire safety.
Yate Fire Station Manager, Steve Imrie, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to come and visit their local fire station. We want to show members of the public inside the station and give them the chance to meet some of our staff.
“People are always interested in the fire and rescue service and we hope members of the public will come along to see some of our vehicles and equipment and find out about how they can reduce the risk of fire in their homes.”
There will also be food, games, face painting and a bouncy castle.
Money raised on the day will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity and Bright Beginnings.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides support services and treatment to serving and retired firefighters in times of need.
Bright Beginnings provides pre-school opportunities for all.
